Thanks to those who've written to ask me what happened with the blog. Truth is, I got distracted.
I had two major freelance jobs pop up in August, just as I was finishing another. Between those jobs, and CLUES, I pretty much had any time away from the day job booked. Emails piled up, as did other types of mail, the bushes are overgrown, and my dustbunnies have had children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In other words, blogging isn't the only thing that went unattended over the last couple of months.
Then there was the computer issue...The main PC went in for repairs, but it's not been right since. I think it's just time to replace it. It IS 6 years old. I've been working on the laptop, but I've discovered I truly miss the desktop, especially the keyboard.
And, glutton for punishment I am, I took on another local theater production. This time, I'm just a gopher/props/lighting person - come and go. It's a two-actor show on a short time frame--it goes up next weekend. I'm also still wandering about in the 1950s in my head, but I'm about to return to earth.
All of this kept mind on anything but blogging.
The good news is that CLUES IN THE CLAY is finished - sort of. I sent the rough draft off to Steeple Hill, and they want it. Contract is in the works, as are the revisions - more major this time than in the previous book, but in many ways, CLUES had a rougher go and more plot elements to mess up.
It also has a new title: THE FACE OF DECEIT. They want to release it next fall, so I need to get the revisions done by the end of November. I've already re-written the beginning, and will be taking a hard look at other sections over the next four weeks.
Finally, I went to see my mom last weekend, and we had another terrific visit. Her eyes are still bothering her and she has some leftover effects from the anasthetic, but overall, she's doing quite well.
Things are settling down, finally. When the show goes up next week, I'll have everything off my plate except the DECEIT revisions and the yardwork. Fall and winter do seem to be around the corner, finally, so I'm hoping for more days of BIC HOK TAM, as the book-in-a-monthers would say. Butt In Chair, Hands On Keyboard, Typing Away Madly.
More Later. :)
